Front Door Colour

The current colour of front door of the house we just purchased is a bright orange. I'm not in love with it. Not able to purchase a new door yet so looking to paint it. What colour would you suggest based on the brick colour?

Yes, the brick is like a brown and cream. I was actually thinking a blue of some sort might be nice. Not sure I'm brave enough to go teal...maybe something darker though :)

I think you need something lighter - the door is dark and partly hidden by a shrub - I'd suggest a buttercream yellow.

All the shrubs are coming out. That should help open the space up a bit. What it really needs is a new door with a window in it but that isn't in the budget right now. I like the idea of buttercream as well...thanks!

Lowe's has some pretty door options for under $300 in my area! Just food for thought!

Even a deep rusty red would work. I still like the idea of colour for the front door. Black would look great too, once shrubs are removed. Can't see what the current door looks like, but if you have room for planters and a wreath, you can change the look of your exterior front entry with seasonal colour. Paint is relatively inexpensive, but try painting a large piece of cardboard and see how it looks on the door from a distance. Curb appeal is key.

Great idea WW Design Studio! I'll get a better picture as soon as we move in...3 1/2 weeks to go!

While you're at it, you might try a medium gray (on the warmer side) for your garage door, so that it doesn't seem like the focal point of your facade. That and a striking front door should help put the welcome where it belongs.

HI -- The color Ranchwood by BM would be good for the garage door and any trim etc. . Perhaps think about putting a nice walk way to the front door so people don't have to go up the driveway . Congrats on your new home .

If your going to paint the front door, paint the trim and garage at the same time. I say don't fight the brown and cream color in brick. Go for a more definitive brown to paint house trim, same for windows only paint the inside of frame a warm creamy color to balance out the brown. Id go with a much lighter shade of brown for the garage door, but trim it out all the way with a warm cream. There are many color choices for your front door, choose what you like just use a color that has brown undertones. Even colors of blue, greens and black can have brown undertones. If you find mire than one color you like use one now and the other when you get the new door.

Consider painting the garage door a colour from the brick so it is no longer the focal point.
