Design inspiration for our master bedroom?

I'm looking to start decorating our master bedroom and I need some inspiration/ideas. It's HUGE-- I think it's 375ish square feet, which I think is why I feel so overwhelmed by it. The 2 big dressers and night tables are new, and were just delivered today-- they are espresso. We are replacing the bed with an upholstered bed, which has yet to be ordered (and color yet to be determined, but I want it to contrast with the espresso pieces). The area by the 3 big windows will be a seating area, but we haven't even begun to look at furniture for it yet (a chaise lounge, maybe?)

Where I'm stuck is what color scheme I want to go with. The carpet is grayish, and the walls are greige, but I wouldn't mind painting. I would love for this room to have a warmer, cozier feel. The rest of the house is very white and bright with lots of grey and blue (I love blue, and I have to stop myself from literally doing the whole house in blue). I like the idea of doing very feminine, white bedding... Think white, pintuck, almost flouncy type bedding. Any ideas for other accent colors? I've looked at hundreds of pictures and nothing really strikes me.

Thank you in advance. Also, excuse the horrible pics and the messy space. The room is actually fairly bright during the day.

me too, lets see if we have some other things though

See you don't need the roof work, but the softness of the bed, some floral, gives a feminine touch

Here we go! lovely blue, maybe a little too girly, but if we ditch the floral up top, probably pretty close to just right?

I have more in idea book. just thought as much as the 3 of us love blue, sometimes a little different is nice, and your bedroom does look that way.

I would put some curtains up to soften the feel of the room, and add some texture and dimension to it. After that I'd find some art work to go over the bed and on the larger walls. Focus on things that reflect your personality rather than just choosing a piece of art because of the color.

I agree navy blue is a great color, especially if you go with a navy that is more of a stone washed jeans color so it isn't so dark that it overwhelms the room. I painted part of the bedroom I use as an office Behr's Mystic Forest that is a light navy along with their Grape Leaves green, and love it.

Oh my, they look like the same blue drapes you were trying to copy on another dilemma. How did they turn out? Did you end up getting them made? Can you post photos?

Thank you all for the ideas! I love love love navy right now too, but I'm doing my son's room in navy (with rustic, reclaimed wood accents, very excited about it!) so I think I need to go in a different direction. I'm actually considering mauve at the moment. Also, coral is appealing to me as well... but I'm not sure if I could get my husband on board with that one ;)

@havingfun I really like, that orange-y spice colored wall!

@hayleydaniels curtains are a great idea. Love the ones you posted.

@SandyC I chose a fabric, and am waiting for them to be made now! I will definitely post pics once they're up.

Thank you again for your input!

Oh poo! If you like Navy then do navy in your room too. They will feel very different as his is boyish and yours will be womanly. I don't think the orange-y wall and navy would work though. Maybe I'm not cutting edge enough. Plus I really like your current bed. Why are you replacing it?

I would be inclined to confine the blue to bedding, drapery, lamps, accessories & artwork.

Your room right now is very dull, boring. Go with a coral or a cobalt (rather than navy) blue. With a navy, your lovely new wood pieces will get lost. With your new pieces avoid going with anything matching. Have different side tables next to your bed. Leave one that you have there & move the other one to the sitting area you plan to develop.

What about a Bright Yellow since you want your entire house to flow well? You can then have gray, white, and even blue accents. I love the coral idea too!

Wow, thank you all for the input and awesome ideas! I've been out of town and unable to check my email, so this was really fun to come home to:) @everdebz, I absolutely love the color walls in that 2014 Holiday House photo. And @BeverlyFLAdeziner I like the idea of confining the color to the bedding, drapes, etc.

Ugh, what to do, what to do...

Quick question: I definitely want to do drapes on the big windows in what will be the seating area, but what about the windows that flank the bed? What is the best way to do drapes on small windows like that? Tie backs?
You could do stationary panels on each side of the window, or full panels if you plan on closing them, or you could have roman shades made.
Something along this idea would look really pretty and cozy in your new room.
And... you have the perfect ceiling for wooden beams. :)

[I'm not the expert, but I think they say the same fabric as the curtains, but roman shades]... here comes one now....

What is the floor plan of your room? Can the bed be moved to a different wall away from the windows ?
