Engine problems for mountfield 725m / EL 63

Hi,

I'm having issues with my garden tractor (mountfield 725m / EL 63). I cannot find out the engine type, but it's a OHV type, 1 cyl. Yesterday, after cleaning our the carb I got it running, but once I engage the blades, it stops. I considered adjusting the valves (i need to do this EVERY time I use it), so I put in a clearance of 0.1 mm for both valves. I then planned to leave off the OHV cover to be able to adjust it until running smoothly. Now I cannot get it to work anymore.

Now I'm not sure if you can actually leave the OHV cover off? And on top of that, during compression I feel air flowing from the top (intake) valve region. Is this normal, or is this the pressure releave mechanism that a B&S motor also had?

Edit: there is a spark, en fuel is getting in

Ok, after getting backfire through the air filter and carb, I checked the flywheel. The flywheel key was totally missing. It probably was damaged already be the previous owner, they said they hit something and never got it working again. I got it working again, but barely, but after hitting some else it was really difficult to start, hope a new flywheel key will fix it all.

make sure you get the correct key spec'd by the engine mfgr; also flywheel tapered bore and engine crank shaft both totally clean/dry before assy - then torqued to engine mfgr's specs.

Found out is was a stiga sv 200 motor, I found the proper flywheel key online, but I'll first try a local dealer. The manual ( http://www.motoruf.de/mo/ersatzteillisten/pdf.php?file=GlobalGarden/Divers/Kundendiensthandbuch/Series%20200/wsmSV200_06_EN.pdf ) says 45-50 Nm, so I'll use that.

Engine started in 1 go! It's not running smoothly yet, will work on that.
