Don't throw anything away yet ,you need to float the sofa in the room ,turn it towards the fireplace in front of the fireplace leaving a walkway behind it, putt the two sweater section on the side of the sofa that will be towards the stairs, scoot the sofa towards the fireplace just large enough to have at least an 8-10 rug in front of it with the front legs of the sofa on the rug...do that and we can go from there...rooms should be cozy near a fireplace so don't worry about it being off of a wall

You might try pulling the larger sofa away from the wall and closer to the fireplace, and then place the smaller sofa parallel to the bigger one, back to door, to feature the fireplace in the center of the two. The sofas are then perpendicular to the fireplace. Then add a substantial table and lamp at the far end of the shorter sofa. I'm not sure how it will work, but it may be worth a try before you get rid of the small sofa.

Then when the sofa is moved from the spot it is in now we can help you with the area in front of that window, cool house by the way

Congrats on moving in your new home…here is a quick suggestion for you to try. I am ‘guesstimating’ the proportion of your room, so bear with me. It looks like it could be tight but try placing the sofa on the stair wall about an inch or so away from the wall (I see the jog in the wall). Plan B, center it on the window wall as you first indicated.

Place the crescent chest behind the floating two-seater; you will have to finagle the room to allow on the hearth side so you can pass but it does not have to be a wide space. For now you can use the seating given to you while you get through all the other details you have to attend to.

My floor plan details the other items in your picture…let me know how this may work for you. I marked two places the crescent chest could work.
The unseen corner piece may have to go to the garage or basement for now.

What's missing from this post is the corner piece that's makes this a sectional...am I correct, then the floor plan will need to be changed

If you have a TV where will it be? Assuming that it will be under the place where the three windows are located this is what i suggest. The longest sofa put it toward side of stairs but not touching wall.

The smaller one , under the large single window. In between put a side table. Behind the large sofa you could add a bookcase ( lengthwise) against wall of stairs, and decorate with vases etc.. Add a large rug and rectangular coffee table in front of large sofa.

The brown console table put it to the side of the stairs ( where you have the two seater now) if it fits okay and add a oval mirror to the wall above it.

You could add smaller chairs for reading next to fire place and a rug.
