try chking your manual for a electrical schematic. find the wire that carries voltage when key is turned to start and chk for 12v present while doing so. trace that wire all the way to solenoid to verify 12v is getting thru. if 12v then all the way to solenoid, then bad solenoid. OTW, could be ign sw itself, cl/brake sw, etc.....

Good info, though if it is a Husqvarna made tractor, it should be a solenoid that has 2 small poles. One of which is triggered by the ignition switch - but the other should have a ground presents when the clutch pedal is down and and the PTO is disengaged.

Do you mean you are bypassing the solenoid and going directly to the starter motor

or

Do you mean you are directing battery voltage to the small spade on the solenoid?
