Hi kim, the shelves are not from Brookhaven. The shelves are the same wood as the wall paneling and the back of the island. The wood is was treated on site to get the "old wood" look. Google how to distress wood and you'll learn how it's done with tea!

It is possible to have floating shelves without visible support. First, the shelf must be at least 1.5-3" thick and the wall should be blocked to support the weight of the shelf. The shelf should have a channel. A steel bar with two "t's" is attached to the wall and the shelf slides onto that. Sorry, if it sounds complicated, but I swear it's not. Try googling floating shelf support and all will be clear! Good luck and thanks for the very nice compliment!
