Geometric/patterned vinyl floor tile?

We are getting ready to do a kitchen renovation and are sourcing vinyl floor tiles. We would really like a showstopper vintage pattern floor to match the rest of our original century old home. We are leaning to vinyl or linoleum to be softer underfoot than tile. We are NOT looking for imitation wood or tile, but want something with color and warmth. There just seems to be next to NOTHING out there when it comes to patterned tiles-which I just can't believe. Anyone have any suggestions??

I know what you mean. Vinyl tiles can look pretty boring. There are some amazing cement tiles that are available now that have beautiful patterns but this would be a much harder floor than vinyl. I would recommend looking at Karndean for excellent quality and design. Here's an example of something interesting. It's their "REN 21 Atlantic Slate" (which is high quality vinyl), and it looks like they've used their narrow silver accent strips between the tiles to give an authentic grout look. The metallic finish of the accent strips glimmer in the light and give you an interesting grid feature.

Thank you, yes, I love the look of encaustic tiles, but are really looking for a softer, and honestly more budget friendly option. We love the vinyl floor cloth designs of Spicher and Co.-if only they weren't you know, cloth...Harvey Maria has some options, but thought surely there must be other products!

Have you checked out Marmoleum it can be done in alsmost any design and colors Marmoleum click is very interesting.

The look of encaustic tiles, but more suitable for budget projects. I'm in the same boat right now, and cannot find a US supplier for anything remotely similar. Frustrating.

I am right there with you. I love the feel of vinyl underfoot, the ease of cleaning it, and the price--but hate the bogus look of vinyl that is posing as stone or tile or wood. Why can't vinyl just look like vinyl? When I bought my 1950s house, all the rooms had these lovely patterned vinyl "rugs" that went wall-to-wall in geometrics and pretty William Morris-esque florals (unfortunately, they were all disintegrating). Patterns were more like bedsheets than anything you'd see on vinyl today. The Harvey Maria tiles from the UK are the closest match, but I have no idea where to find them in the US, and in any even, would prefer vinyl sheet to vinyl tile in my smallish kitchen.
