What make and model GDO do you have? Chain, belt or screw drive?

I'd open up the drive unit case and see if the gears are worn and stripped or if anything else looks 'wrong'.

Chain drive... It moves but no longer engages the door for some reason. Where do I look to see why?

Ok got it raised. This cable isn't winding properly and we have a wheel off the track.

got the wheel on track but it seems like its miaaing a nut and washer holding it steady. needs assistance going up and will flash the garage overhead lights a bunch of times SOMETIMES(possibly unless you hold the wired craftsmen door opener button down. The drive is a craftsman 3/4hp. The doors are bay sized steel please advise.

That braided steel wire goes to the counter balance mechanism. The opener would not normally life the door without the counterbalance assistance.

The trouble shooting process starts every single time with this answer I gave for a somewhat similar problem. When an opener starts to die it's almost always the fault of the door, not the opener. First thing to try every time is how well does the door open and close without
the opener latched in? If the door won't open and close without strong effort (a ten year old should be able to hoist and lower it), it's probably not an opener problem. Unless the door just burned it out, that is.

Also, like the person just above said, a loose wire must be fixed before anything else. Also get those tracks straightened out (use a hammer) in the spots where the rollers have popped out. That's also a good time to clean and grease the roller bearings, seeing if any need to be replaced.
