After seeing your article on "doors" I thought I would show you mine, that I would like to "change" in some way and....

I would leave the door as is, as it's complimentary to your staircase as well. I would remove curtains and add some interesting antique looking film on the glass and there are so many to choose from, some even look like stained glass. If the handle can be shined up, that would be nice as well.

I love your door and the lace curtain, but it would look good with other fabrics too. You could even change them seasonally if you wanted to.

The door is beautiful. We agree...you should leave it as is and polish the knob. Like the idea of the antique window film as well.

Love the door, but your lovely curtains don't coordinate with the wall color, the tile floor or your carpet. Just toooooooo yelllow. Don't do the film. Replace the curtains with something in a soft white.

In Toronto and Georgetown I've seen lots of gorgeous doors just like yours. Some looked super chic with etched glass for privacy (maybe a film) and a few even had the house number in the etching. Not sure how you look into that....

I am considering the film on the glass, just have to find the right one that appeals to me. And if I don't like it, it can be removed! Thank-you all!

If you don't need a storm door, I would add a fancy Victorian screen door. Stenciled etched glass for the door....keep the antique doorknob/hardware.

we have a double door similar to yours (1870 house) and replaced the glass panels with thermal double pane units. visually there is no difference, and the wood was more than thick enough to support the double panes without any trim added or removed. if you still have the single pane glass you might think of doing this, your heat loss will be far less.
