Wowow those are beautiful!

I have not experienced the self-seeding, unfortunately :-/ What is the key to success, ours always languish and make me wonder why anyone grows them.

I wish I could have edited that first post. I meant Amaranth family NOT Agapanthas. Oooops! Mine are on a drip system and get watered at 5 AM 3 days per week per our mandatory drought program. I don't know why mine reseeded, but they are far more beautiful than the first ones we purchased at HD. Such variety!

Maybe we got lax and left them there too long? It is the back yard, so not as important as the front.

Very nice! I've always wanted to plant Amaranth, but forget to do that. This year with the drought, I haven't planted anything new. I especially like the Amaranth that has a long hanging bloom.

Next year I'll try Amaranth. Just trying to figure out where to put it. It grows very tall. I bought some seeds a couple years ago. Hope they are still viable.

I've been looking online at seed catalogs and my seedling celosia / cockscomb are entirely different than anything on the market. Two are my favorites and I'm going to try to isolate their seeds from the bees so they don't get all cross pollinated, but even if they do, it will be fun to see what comes up next year.
