I'm remodeling a house, so all of the painting in question will be starting from scratch on new cabinets/drywall/wood trim. My first issue is the butler's pantry- I'd like to do everything one color (cabs, walls, trim), a very deep/dark green. My architect has discouraged this, saying that the wall color will never truly match the woodwork and that it will always look a little off. Any thoughts on doing an entire room in one color, or experience?

To add to the complication, the cabinet maker will only use a Valspar product that he says is specially formulated for cabinets, with some hardeners added. The color I want is Sherwin Williams, and he would have to color match. If I went with the same color everywhere, could I use Sherwin Williams on the walls, or would I have to use a Valspar color match to get closer to the cabinets?

My next issue is with the kitchen cabinets. I've fallen in love with a Farrow and Ball color, and now the cabinet maker is saying he can only use the Valspar product. Is there any hope of a color match with this one? It's French Gray if it makes a difference.

I can't switch cabinet makers at this point, and he seems pretty stuck on the Valspar paint. Has anyone successfully gotten a cabinet maker to use a different product? Has anyone used Farrow and Ball on cabinets? He keeps saying that I can't use "just any" paint on the cabs, that it has to be this specially formulated stuff. But I know people have used Farrow and Ball on cabinets- can someone clue me in??
