Large back patio and very plain. Design ideas?

I am starting from scratch here. I would like big overstuffed furniture so more Tuscan than French. No metal or wicker

IMO you require the services of a landscape architect to start with in order to fix this huge expanse of stone. Maybe create an outdoor kitchen, create an area of sun control, establish some built in tree planters, create a plan for outdoor landscape lighting.

Then I would not recommend overstuffed Tuscan furniture. Hard to maintain and dated. No one in Tuscany has overstuffed furniture.

I would also have the stone pressure washed and sealed. The color will change considerably.

It's a beautiful place so obviously budget is not an issue, get a designer who specializes in outdoor living and he will help you do that place up to your liking, i.e Put some outdoor furniture, grill area, eating area, sunbathing area... some pots with plants, some trellises, etc

thank you! I do have some large Cabo style pots to start with, very colorful. A shaded and sunbathing area is important and a nice spot to pick for a firepit would be great. I like the idea of doing a stone wash to see a better color come out :). When I spoke about overstuffed Tuscan furniture I believe I was thinking about a more Spanish revival feel with colorful cushion s etc but it does sound difficult to take care of...any ideas on outdoor patio furniture? My husband is built like a football player and doesn't feel comfortable on small weak furniture! haha, it must be robust and strong!

Check on outdoor collections from Restoration Hardware, Brown Jordan & Tropitone. See if you can select at least a few styles you would consider.

The major elements for a Spanish style and feel are gardens, courtyards, fountains, etc

You need a combination of some garden area and create an intimate patio area which can be separated by a wall with a nice impressive fountain and have a nice view of the garden area on the side.

Add a mixture of colors like brilliant blue, baked terra cotta, classic brown, white, all this colors are very popular today.

If you use furniture with cloth you can use pacific blue, or kamal chestnut.

    Best of luck

My husband is built like an offensive lineman, so I get where he is coming from. A lot of the furniture has such short backs that it is not comfortable for them. The O.W. Lee Monterra collection is pretty comfortable for the football player types. (They have some other collections that I liked a little better.)

What about some large, modern planters to add some color and interest? We have a wide selection on Urbilis!
