I would rather not go w/ a product from China. Keep looking.

Calacatta marble is so very strikingly beautiful, and so very difficult to duplicate in a man-made material. It ALWAYS looks fake to anyone who knows marble. Why not go with a plain quartz that looks like what it is?

As far as made in China goes, if you are dealing with a well known and reputable company, there should be no problem--many companies have their products made there and the manufacturing process is well supervised. If you can't find anything about the product or the company, then I'd say that's a red flag, and I'd stay away from it.

I too would be hesitant to put a man made marble look alike in close proximity to the real deal...I agree with the above suggestion to consider a solid color Quartz if you are doing the Calcutta gold in the shower. On that note, we had Carrara marble floor in our last shower and it was so difficult to keep clean...it stained very easily especially with our hard water. And there were few cleaners we could use that didn't cause etching. It was beautiful at first but I came to regret the decision. I would consider a water softener if you don't already have one. Errrr China NO, You never now what chemicals they put in any of there products. Not much regulation over there. Best to buy American made, or maybe even Canada.

I agree...best to stay away from Chinese quartz. As a supplier of reputable quartz brands, you want to look at brands that use the Breton technology when producing these slabs. This is the industry standard. Anything outside of that is highly questionable and the last thing you want is your product to fail within a couple of years. ie. resin pooling, warpage, chipping, etc...

Also...don't be fooled by warranties either...that only applies to material only...Not the cost of templating/fabricating/installation...which typically works out to 2/3's the cost of the finished product. Always best to remember that you really do get what you pay for. Spend the little extra on a reputable brand like LG Viatera, Cambria, CaesarStone, Silestone, HanStone, etc...
