I would start by getting an area rug that is wider so that the front legs of all furniture are on the rug, and includes some cream to complement the sofa and contrast the floors. I would also forego the end tables because there is not room for them. The chairs should also be tilted to face the sofa.

I would also forego using end piece of the tufted chaise as there is not room for it.

Your chair is not large enough for the entry way. You need something longer. Love your zebra chair, but pillow is too big and hiding print. Also need to pull it out of corner closer to sofa.

In the hallway, if you'd like seating, I would suggest a slightly longer bench and a large piece of art, or a collection of similar art.

Your tables don't have to match. In fact, they shouldn't, unless you like the furniture showroom look. Your end tables beside the sofa are way out of scale. With a coffee table, you don't need them anyway.

Pull your chairs out of the corners and onto the rug.

Way too many starbursts, the bench is too short, and the clock should be centered over it. Art would add more life to the room if you can live without the clock. If you have a console table, use it instead of the bench.

grover is correct about the end tables, but if not in your budget to replace, some great lamps will help down play the tables and you do need floor lighting. You could consider floor lamps on each side of sofa instead.

Once you get your rug in place, you can pull in the black and zebra chairs and maybe put one of the end tables between them in front of window. I would keep the zebra lamp on one table between FP and sofa.

Now that I've taken a closer look at your coffee table and fireplace, I see the console table above is wildly inappropriate. I'll find a better one once I finish the living area. But you get the idea anyway.

You've made some really nice choices and the direction you're heading here could make a stunning room. A couple of things will help immediately.

Larger rug: The rug you selected has great color and pattern, but it's just too small.

Furniture arrangement: Bring the chairs into the grouping. Imagine people sitting here, close enough for animated conversation. Put the chairs where you would want to sit to talk to someone on the couch. Looking down at your room, you can see the functional area is bounded by the sofa, the stools, and the chairs (after you move them). Those end tables just don't fit. They need to go.

Entry wall: It's unfocused and bland. Choose one bold piece of art and a distinctive table or bench and center it in that space.

You said you had a non-matching table that might be used on the entry wall. How about sticking it there and giving us a photo so we might see how we could punch it up?

I just popped in to read your recent post, and haven't read through the whole dilemma. Are you planning on keeping the table? If you're keeping the art, the table is waaay too small for the art. But again, you may have already addressed the issue and I haven't read it.

Do NOT give up. You have a great start. Rome wasn't built in a day, and neither were any of those beautiful rooms you see on Houzz. The key is planning everything out before you buy a single thing. That's how you get everything to coordinate.

You have a beautiful area and just needs some tweeks to get it the way you want it.

1. It's easy for us to design a perfect room. But you are the one to decide if you can A. Replace and buy new or have to work with what you have. B. If you can replace, what is your budget. It is one thing to buy a new console, it is another to replace tables and add lamps and pictures.

2. You have to shift though all the comments, everyone has an idea what looks good and what doesn't. As you have seen, you will get a doz different ideas from a doz advisors. Some will be really good and some will be really bad.

3. I agree that your end tables are too large for the space, but you need room lighting. either lamps or floor lamps. If you cannot replace tables and buy new lamps, that is a decision you will have to make. Do I buy a table lamp and make do with table for now ( and replace later)or do I get a floor lamp and sell the table?

4. Do I find an art piece that looks good with my hall console or do I replace with a bigger one and then find the perfect mirror or piece of art for it.????

5. There are different price points for everything you need or want. What is the perfect piece that is $900 may have a similar size/shape in another store for $200 .

6. You live in the space daily, not us. You need to feel good about the way your room looks every day.

7. Let's face it 90% of the people that visit your home could care less if your lamp is in the right place or if your console is too small or your end table is too big :>)

Here are some table that would good in the space (LR and entry) that are reasonable. Why keep a small table and then have to add 2 or 3 items to make it work? This one is 56" long and $325.
