Food Processors

My daughter and SIL love to cook and want to invest in a really good, high end food processor. The one they are considering is a Breville.

Does anyone have any experience with this model or brand? Any other suggestions?

I still use my cuisinart from the early 90's. It's not pretty to look at, but it's a work horse.

I'll be interested in what others say as I'm looking to replace my Cuisinart. I believe the Breville is top rated by Consumer Reports.

Breville makes an excellent toaster oven.

See what Sur La Table and Williams-Sonoma sell and read those reviews.

Cindymac, I have the Breville toaster and it is well worth the money.

Nhbaskets, I'm guessing you mean the toaster oven. I use mine 90% of the time. Seems a waste to heat up the big stove oven unless absolutely necessary.

I have a breville toaster also-- not the toaster oven, the regular old toaster. I like their products.. I also used a cuisinart and was very happy with it!

From what I've read, the Breville has a very powerful motor-- perhaps overkill if you are making pesto and sauces but I'd think it would be helpful if you are making doughs, sausage, etc.

I need to purchase one too in the very near future and I haven't decided yet. A breville sale might make my decision-- but they are few and far between.

I bought a Cuisinart in the 1970's that lasted for over 35 years. I used it at least every day...for everything! From chopping to whipping cream, bread making, etc. The motor finally burned out and I got a new one, largest they make. It lasted less than 2 years; they repaired it. Broke again, I pitched a fit and they replaced it. It has rubber/plastic soft covered push buttons for the controls that are on the body of the machine, (not the old plastic bars at the bottom of the machine), which are wearing out (it's less than 7 or 8 years old). I don't make bread any more and don't use it every day like I used to...the machine works okay, but I would never buy another Cuisinart unless I can find a vintage one.

Check on the cooking forum. There are great people there who will give you great advice.

Oh Oly, I am bummed to hear that. Same thing happened with my capresso coffee maker. LOVED it.. but when it died, the new version of the same model lasted less than a year. I contacted Capresso and they insisted I had to send it in for a repair-- estimated 45 days! I bought another (as I'd have to anyhow-- who goes 45 days without?) and it sure as heck wasn't a capresso! Jura bought out Capresso between the two models.. and the quality and customer service both went down.

We have a Magimix. Made in France. Love it. Got ours from Wiliams Sonoma bc they have an XL version.
