Fabricating for Riverby?

HI! I have the Kohler Riverby sink and my fabricator just told me that they require 1 1/2 inch btw faucet hole and sink. I guess the Riverby doesn't give you that amount. As a result, they are almost refusing to fabricate my counter even though Kohler themselves said there's enough room and tons of people use this sink undermounted. Do you have any thoughts on this? I would greatly appreciate your thoughts. thank you!

We would be comfortable drilling a quartz or solid surface counter top after the installation is complete. When using a natural stone product such as granite, it does have the capability of cracking. Being in the business for 10 years I do agree with your fabricator. The goal of the fabricator is to have a happy client for long term. It is best to avoid anything that could be an issue down the road. I hope this information helps. Good luck.

Thank u very much! Wondering do u also have that requirement of 1 1/2 inch btw faucet hole and edge of sink? Do u find it at all strange that they don't want to cut this sink as it's supposed to per the Kohler template? And in order to have the 1 1/2 inch space there would be an overhang on that edge which would be terrible. All these things don't make sense considering this sink is a very popular one and is cut out correctly all the time. Really appreciate ur thoughts!

Yes we do have that requirement but we ALWAYS go by the template. The reason there is that 1 1/2" requirement is because the stone becomes very brittle after that. I am not sure what stone you are going with but if it a brittle stone then your fabricator is probably just worried about it breaking.

Thanks for this post. I purchased this sink and already purchased the granite. Now I am having trouble getting this installed. I would expect more from Kohler. I called their customer care and the person I spoke to insisted that this should not be a problem. It's a very frustrating situation. Good to know I am not the only one.
