Typically a dining bench is 18" high. You can add a custom 3" h cushions, in a fabulous fabric, to ensure the banquette bench is comfortable. Select a rectangle dining table with a table top with at least an inch overhang. This will assist with the ease of using the banquette. (not hitting the legs.)

Dear Keepsake Design -Thanks very much for advice & book title. I'll def use it for research. I posted a pic of the outside elevation & where the bump is. Do you think it will look ok taking transom out & raising windows a bit?

Thank you. Do you think this is worth changing the look of the outside elevation? I posted something on which color siding to go with on the house. Cedar Impressions-vinyl shake look shingles-either Charcoal or Seagrass. all white trim & white windows/no shutters. I'm getting to crunch time on these decisions. Thanks so much for your help!

HI -- You could have the eating area so that you don't have to change the elevation . Continue a table as part of the island on the end , then the island will have stool seating and table height seating . It can be used from all three sides around and will be away from the walls and it could leave you with room on that back wall for a buffet cabinet . The extension can be made to clip off the island and moved out to make more seating for get together's .
