I would anchor the room with some black furniture. If you don't want to replace what you have, painting it would work. This will be a more adult look than the light coloured pieces, and add great contrast to the lavender. Bringing some black into the accents would enhance the effect, and balance the colour elements as your eye looks around the room. Good luck!

I like your choice - partly cause it's your choice!! You haven't added any patterns that look young, have you? bedding etc.? Be happy with it, but what's the rest look like?

Something possibly with heft and masculine look, just idea:

The lavender seems to have too much pink. You might want something with a bit of gray in it. This one is darker, but you can do something lighter

I'd say a new darker or neutral rug // or alter the window shades.

Grey paint in bold stripes placed on your shades in a very subtle metallic even.

Or connect the patterned dots [that seem from here within the fabric] with stitching in sophisticated silvery grey ribbon.

Or buy a deeper toned rug, like this which drives me crazy with richness and yet pretty. [If window shades are possible to change, maybe a chalky cream treatment of some kind to blend trim, and also lessen that pastel vibe].

The walls aren't really as pink as they appear (see photo attached). Obviously we need artwork on the walls too... A masculine lamp is a great suggestion too.

I like this personally, and because of your wood floor and straight lines in furniture.

Are the shades more towards pink? I would probably have white shades there,,maybe even some white sheers.
Have you tried having the bed against the bay window? Where you have it now, it seems like there isn't much space for bed and nightstands. It might be worth a try and see if that way you can arrange the furniture better..the sitting area where the bed is now (you have a shelving unit there as well?)

Yes, the shades definitely lean pink - which is probably what needs to change first (expensive mistake). We have tried bed in bay window, but headboard is large, blocks any view and we live on a Main Street so even noisier to sleep. Shelving is built in and off-center so yes, bed and night tables are a bit crowded... (Would love to take out shelving but struggle as house built in 1905 and don't want to lose all the funky quirks - but not ideal for furniture placement.) Maybe white shades and masculine lamp along with some bold artwork would help get me where I want to be.

I think the problem is your walls and violet shades look pinkish. When you add the blond wood furniture, the colors go pastel. If you change out the rug by the windows to something with some bold pattern, it will help your room look more mature. Not sure I'd say it looks juvenile, but pushing the pastels. Consider a statement rug like these.

We can see there's grey muting the paint duller, fine ... if rug goes ok, then add a grey similar to it in bedding -- possibly the taupe-greys? 2nd vibe of home?

I harp on saving money - but possibly with right advice // gesso and paint them if they were expensive. I get it.

The term I was trying to think of: glaze. Do you or yours diy?

I like the mauve color on the walls and I think with some white sheers, it will look better.
If you need to keep the bed there, see if you can have that dresser to the left of the bed (left as you look at the bed, so closer to the door) as a nightstand. It doesn't look too tall, so it might work. Keep the other nightstand on the other side..if possible moving the bed a bit more towards the door so the nightstand can be almost fully aligned along the wall. The other nightstand you can use it as a side table for the armchair.
Instead of the dresser you have now, maybe you can get a larger piece,,,I think the one you have now is too small for that wall

Fabric in white or cream can also seem feminine...Shades fit well within your casings. Cause I already said stripes, even pinstripes in grey like chair, lighter... ideas.

Can you put a modern silver pull in the center bottom edge of the shades to give them some contrast? This is the idea but not the look! Modern and edgy!

Also hanging grey wool look floor to ceiling curtains on very short rods between the windows will subdue the pink. Martha Stewart has some on line at home depot that would look great' they come in 96 and 104 length!

I would also try flipping the rugs from where they are now.

Is there a problem with centering the bed on the wall; it looks like the nightstands can move over to the wall behind the door? If there are shelves behind the door take away the night stand on that side of the bed and clear out the shelves to make that the nightstand and then hang wall sconces on the wall instead of lamps.

Try your nightstand lamps on the dresser on each end. Center them on the ends, move tv to one side and put a silver metal vessel of some sort for all your TV paraphanalia.

Go shopping for a very big print and hang in the middle of the wall to the right of the dresser.

Try a triptych photograph over your bed of something meaning full to the both of you.

This is exactly what I had in mind for placement, but you would have to choose the mood and colors, etc.
