Do you grow them outside? In the north we have to grow them inside, and they need to be potted up at least once to get the roots to become more fibrous.... Maybe you keep your pots outside - lucky you! Perhaps a cover would work if you are getting a lot of rain.

No heat needed because we are coming off of a Miami summer. Rain could be a problem.

According to Farmers Almanac the fall tomato planting date for Los Angeles is in Sept and Oct., and, I 'm determined to try harder this year ....So far I have Sun Sugar and Big Beef in final pot (30 gallon), Juliet and SS100 ready to go in 2 weeks. I've also just seeded some lesser known varieties in the basement seeding rack. I think I've covered all bases:)

I'm a "snowbird" and plan to return to south Fla in December. I have 6 seedlings already started and hope they're not already too big to take with me by then.
