Where do you live and any idea what type of lizard it is? Some eats fruit and veges and some are insect eaters so it would help if you knew what type you have.

I doubt he will starve and he probably knows how to get out of the house.......same way he got in. We used to have geckos in our house all the time when we lived in Hawaii.....never had one die in the house.

I live in Phoenix, AZ. I have lots of geckos. This lizard dwarfs the geckos. In fact, I imagine he might eat the geckos. I have found dead geckos and I think they starve as there are not enough small bugs for them to eat. I caught another large lizard in my house last fri. night. I believe it was a Clarks spiny lizard. He was HUGE. He used to live outside in my storage room across from the carport door. We were like neighbors and I would see him coming and going and vice versa. I believe he got through the door into the house when I returned late at night from work. I was able to catch him in a box and get him outside. He took off and right away a new lizard moved into the storage room.

I believe this is the new lizard that moved into the storage room. I think he came in when my mother was leaving out the carport door at 5 AM Tues. with luggage. I came home that night to a large lizard dropping in the living room. I have been searching for him and finally saw him today. I think he is a Clark's or desert spiny lizard.

The problem is that I started spraying for crickets. I only sprayed a little bit, but it is amazing how effective it is. I am not finding any crickets or ANYTHING but small geckos and lizards in the house. I cant even find crickets outside to feed the lizard. I bought mealworms at Petsmart and I think he ate one today...or it got away.

Do you have any suggestions? Here is a pic of the big one from last week:

UPDATE I caught him!!!! I was on the phone with a reptile store asking for advice as I could not find him. They said look around anything warm - refrigerator or entertainment center. Just then I saw him looking out the sliding glass door. He could not run on the floor, as it is slippery, so I was able to chase him down in a shirt. He went catatonic, but once I got him outside and he felt the sun on him, he took off. I believe he is a male desert spiny lizard, about 10-12 inches long.

Unfortunately, I sprayed for crickets and there arent many around the storage area lately. Do you know if females and males tend to hang out in the same area? The one I found in the house last week (pic in second post) was even larger and looks like a female. She lived in the storage room for a long time. After I caught her in the house, and released her outside, she took off and I have not seen her since. Right away a new lizard took up residence in the storage room (I think the one I caught today). I dont think he will come back to the storage room again. I am wondering if these two were a couple at one time. From now on, I will try not to spray in the carport. I really like seeing these big guys around. It seems every summer, a large lizard takes up residence in the storage room. The door is high off the ground because there was some sort of heating equipment in there many years ago.

Haha! When I saw the title of your post, I thought you wanted advice to get the lizard OUT of your house (which is what I'd asking). Kudos on the rescue!

@nannygoat18 Oh yes! I wanted him OUT of the house definitely! I do not want a pet lizard, especially a wild one! I let him go outsie and he took off, first crashing into the door (thank goodness it was closed), the wall, and finally he headed off to the yard).

Poor thing was petrified with fear! You can see he didnt even move when I took the pics and he was free to go. I think he thought it was the end for him.

That puts Arizona on the list of places I will not be retiring to!
