Another Last Pull Question

I'm going with all pulls, 3 3/4" for the uppers (placed vertically), and 6 1/4 (horizontally) for the lower drawers.

Two cabinets I'm not sure how to handle. First is sink cabinet - the right side will be a trash pullout. Left side a regular door. I posted here & debated, and have pretty much decided to go horizontal, top center for those. But size... Cabinet is 30" overall, so the doors are smaller than any of my drawers. I can go with either the small or large, or I can order two of the in-between 5" pulls. I put painters tape in the smaller & larger sizes, and lined up the three different size options just above, on top of the counter:

The other cabinet I'm not sure how to handle (no pun intended) is the pantry. The top door of the pantry lines up with the upper cabinets, and is the same size, so I'm pretty sure I should use the smaller pull for that, but should I use the smaller pull for the lower as well?

I like the idea of different size pulls for the pantry- the bottom door is bigger so it makes sense. However, I would definitely use the same size pulls for the sink base. My vote would be 2 in-between sizes, but sizing would also have to depend on the sizes of pulls in the adjoining cabinets. My narrower cabs got smaller pulls than my wider ones.

I'd go with smaller under the sink and both larger on the pantry. Since the upper pantry pull won't line up with the pulls on the, I think it is more important that it be bigger because of the bigger door and that it match the lower pantry pull, which it will be right next to.

I'd go with mid size pull on sink cabs. Kitchens looking good. You must be so pleased.

I used 4 different size pulls in my kitchen. I kept all the cabinet doors the same size but had different sizes for the drawers based on the width of the drawer. For your kitchen I would keep the top and bottom panty pulls the same size since you didn't vary the sizes elsewhere.

For your trash pullout I would go with the 6-1/4 that you have on your drawers. My sink (with the trash pullout under it) is in my island which has other cabinet doors so I actually put the pulls vertical on my sink cabinet. The trash pull out has operated perfectly with this set up for the past 4 years. It still fools people though when they ask me where my trash is. You could always put your sink cabinet door pulls vertical if you wanted them to look like your other cabinet doors.

What ever you decide on your pulls your kitchen is going to look fantastic. Love seeing your continuous project pictures. Good luck in the home stretch. The finish line is in sight.

A thought: if you put the longer pulls on the sink cabinet, you can hang a towel there. Don't know where you plan to keep a towel, but even if you don't hang it there all the time, it would be handy when you are washing up.

Johnsoro25 - My lower cabinet drawers all have the largest 6.25" pulls, and those drawers are 18", 36" and 39". The sink cabinet is 30", with each door being 15".

crl_ Hmmm - I'd really thought that the upper pantry pull should be small, since that door is the exact size as the upper door on the other side of the fridge from it. Will have to give that some consideration.

    Daisychain - thank you!

Badgergal - so, would you go with the smaller pulls for the pantry? I thought about both options for my sink cabinet, but do think (though could still change my mind) that I want them horizontal

bpathome - that is a good point, and the towel would fit there. Right now, I can put a towel either on the pull just to the left of the sink, or on the stove handle.

I was kinda hoping the overwhelming majority would say one thing or another. :) Every time I see posts on here about pulls, the opinions are all over the place, which just confirms that it's one of those things where individual preference is really, really variable.

I'm going to add some more photos here for an overall of the hardware. Absolutely welcome more thoughts!

(foreground drawers are 18", other side of range are 36", then sink:

The 18" drawer stack on the far side of the range is hardly visible in this photo.

Funkycamper - that sounds like very solid advice!

It is a very personal decision. I didn't even consult my husband- I didn't want to confuse things! If your lower cabs all have the largest pull, then I would match that on the sink base. I have horizontal on the sink base to match the adjacent cabs, and it looks great.

I like the idea of larger pulls on all the bottom cabs including lower pantry and sink doors and the smaller same size pulls on the uppers including upper pantry door. I would do horizontal on your sink pulls.

Your kitchen is looking great. Can't wait to see it done.

Thank you, johnsoro & Karenseb. I keep going back and forth!

For your pantry I would use the same size on the top and bottom and that would be the same size as your other uppers.

Now, when it comes to the lower cabinets and drawers. all my pulls are the same size regardless of the size of drawers. It would have bugged the heck out of me having different sized pulls. I know that's not a popular view but there it is. So , for me, whatever size you put on the drawers I would put on your sink cabinets. That just what I would have done - not telling you what to do.

I did the same as blfenton. Every one of my pulls, top and bottom are the same size.

I would stick with the same size on the bottom for a consistent image.

As others have said, there really is no right or wrong, it is just what you prefer.

Thanks, everyone. I don't mind different size pulls on drawers. I do think I want the smaller pull on both the pantry doors. As for the sink cabinet, I'm thinking either the large, or maybe the medium.

After seeing your additional pictures, I think you should have the sink cabinet pulls be horizontal and the same size (6-1/4) as your drawers. I also think you should use the smaller (3-3/4) pulls that you have on your other doors on both of your pantry doors. Just changing one or both of those pulls to a bigger size than the rest of your doors might look like you made a mistake or ran out of the size you used on the other doors. You don't need a bigger pull to open a bigger door. Might as well go for consistency.

    Thank you, everyone!

    (I think) I've made a decision!

-Small pulls on both pantry doors.

-Medium pulls on both sink doors, top, centered, horizontal.

Initially, my plan had been to have the medium (5") pulls on my 18" bank of drawers as well, but KD convinced me to go with the larger pulls, saying to use all the same size on my drawers. I did so, and am fine with that decision, though I would have been just as happy with the 5" on those drawers.

The larger pulls just kept looking a little bit too big for the sink doors. The medium ones look just right to me, and I don't care that they're not the same size as the drawers right next to them.

I think the KD also wanted two different sized pulls for the pantry - small on top and big on the bottom, but that looks off to me. Going with the smaller for those doors looks better (to me.)

You are making me so grateful to be past this decision! None of your options were "wrong," either. I think we ended up with 5 (!) different sizes of pulls and it's not something I'm even aware of any more. Once it's decided, you never have to think of it again!
