Living Room/Awkward Space

Hello everyone!! I am looking for some help with my living room decor.

1) The sectional is huge, I know but I'm stuck with it. I hate that the 1st thing you see is the back of the couch when you enter the door, so I am thinking of putting a large credenza( something with color) back there with a set of cordless lamps to help it be more inviting. What do you guys think?

2)I was thinking about 2 accent chairs by the fireplace (chairs pictured are just placeholders)????

3) I do not know what to put in that space on the far wall next to the sectional...bookcase? Sideboard? And what about art on that wall? Shelving? Big piece? Smaller pieces?

Help I'm stuck!

I would push the sectional closer to the fireplace and put a console behind it, This way the 1st thing you see will be the console table.

Can you break up that sofa into two sections, placing the arms on one set and use the straight section/s as the other? Then either have them facing each other or at right angles, to help break up the massive look. Paint the walls a stronger color, perhaps a rust or khaki to pick up some of the rug colors. Use throw pillows and art to pull in accent colors as well.

You could put a large credenza or even a sofa table. I think it's a really nice room and the sectional doesn't bother me at all.

I'm not sure I'd put 2 chairs by the fireplace because they'll have their backs to the TV/fireplace. Do you need more seating than the sectional provides?

I would want to either paint the coffee table legs an off-white, of pick up the blue for your walls.

It's really a beautiful room!

I definitely would not paint the walls darker. Since the style of the coffee table doesn't complement the style of the sofa, I would suggest getting a new contemporary coffee table with a glass top so it doesn't visually take up much space. I would not try to put a sofa table behind the sofa because there is not room for one. I think the back of the sofa will be visually less prominent when the rest of the room is decorated well and especially if there are some interesting items at a level higher than the sofa. I would forego the black chairs because they are a different style from the sofa and too small in scale.

Would it be better to have an end table and chair at the far end of the sofa? You are going to need a lamp there anyway. Lamp light is much more flattering than overhead lights. I agree that having chairs by the fireplace might not work. The walls are a beautiful color.

Large art or a grouping of large art for the wall. Add an accent color - yellow would be pretty.

I didn't know this was a duplicate post---I commented a couple of hours ago. Anyway-copy of my original post...

Hi---pretty home.

The first thing I noticed is the space lacks a bit of cohesiveness. I recommend you consider the things that are permanent---tile, dark wood floor, stone on FP and countertop, sectional, etc.,

I put together the follow boards based off of those elements. I think a different rug would help pull the design together. Light upholstered chairs, a round coffee table, aqua console, light colored lamps, and large (perspective) art/mural for the blank wall.
