I personally would not recommend it. We have only done one under mount in laminate and it was not a farm style sink. It was a nightmare from start to finish trying to get it done and delivered. It takes a special process to under mount the sink by someone who is familiar with it. I would be very afraid with a farm sink that it would not hold up given the amount of exposed edges. If you really want to stay with laminate, I would put the sink up for sale on Craigs List and go with a more standard sink. If you have a way of doing another countertop product in the area with the sink and using laminate elsewhere, it might be a compromise.

Is a solid surface product rather than laminate within the budget? Should be priced between a laminate and quartz or stone.

We have looked at the alternative of butcher block but that has it's own set of challenges! I love the look of a farm-style sink, and we live on a working farm with a very functional kitchen. I'm hoping to keep the sink, but have to be practical too. Thanks for your advice!

I have an undermount sink in a wood countertop (made with leftover solid maple, not quite butcher block), and it’s been fine for several years. I’d just emphasize: Seal that wood like crazy! Especially the ‘end grain’ around the sink.

We are planning to go butcher block and mount the sink a 1/2 inch above the counter top with good waterproof sealing at the contact edges. I am fairly tall, so I think I will like the sink slightly above the counter top. Thanks for the advice

I don't believe this kit existed in 2015 when this thread was started. It's that or a Karran if you're undermounting a sink in a plastic laminate top.
