Cute place, but the dining room seems a bit dark and cluttered. Would you consider painting the built-ins? Even if you just painted the top built-ins, it would brighten and lighten the space. Also, some white or light colored, filmy curtains, rather than these blinds, would help open things up visually. I like your idea for the mason jar light fixture, but I think you'll find that it looks better if you pull the table out into the center of the room, under the fixture.

I think changing the ceiling fan is a great idea and I think a mason jar fixture would suit your style. I think the correct height for a chandelier is approx 30" above the table; I would think the same would hold true for a pub table. I agree with butlera that the table should be pulled more into the center of the room. It doesn't look as through you could use all the chairs in its' current location. I like the darker colours of the built-ins and your furniture. I would encourage you to remove at least half of the items in the built-ins.

It appears that you have a lot of furniture in a small space. If the table is centered in the room will there be space to walk to the kitchen? The upper corner cabinets should not be used as a bar. They would be better suited to a few decorative pieces.

I agree with Butlera...remove the blind and use curtains.

HI -- Sorry to say but everything you are doing and the furniture and cabinets are making the room even smaller . The pub table is not right for the space . The corner cabinets are taking up to much space . I don't mind the blinds and the window . If the cabinets were re-located ( re-moved ) and you had a regular small table with a bench on the window wall and a couple of chairs with a flush mount ceiling fixture , then the room would look and feel better .
