Moving a largish Azalea

Hi,

We're putting a new deck on the front of our house, unfortunately we need to move a couple of Azeleas, one large, one small. The small one we can easily move, but I'm wondering what prep we need to do to move the large one.The below picture shows one angle of it, in order to mark where posts go, I had to cut out a significant portion of the shrubbery - the circle below shows what I had to cut out. The azelea branches above and below what's cut out so when I move this it will have a pretty significant hole.

I know cutting it back will prevent flowering in spring, I can live with that. I am soaking the area around the plant now - would you recommend more cut back since I've already gave it a haircut? It is an old plant and I wouldn't mind trimming it back more but I don't want to kill it. And if I cut it back it will not have much greenery. If I do that will it return in spring?

Thanks!

Bob
