I think colorful window film will just look tacky. I like solar shades for light and heat protection much better than window film.

I was trying to figure out something fun to do with the small windows in my house and decided to try a stained glass window film. I chose a Tiffany-style design, and it honestly made such a difference. The colors look really pretty and it gives the room a lot more personality. It also added privacy, which was a nice bonus, especially for those smaller windows that face the street. It still lets in plenty of light, so the space doesn’t feel dark at all. It is a really simple home upgrade idea that made the space feel more finished without spending a ton of money.

This isn't window film, but I put (with scotch tape!) asian paper up on the tall skinny tiny window in my condo powder room. It's really pretty and subtle. I got it from a specialty art supply store in my home town.
