Question on the dimensions in the product specs

The product specifications indicate a depth of 9" but the size is listed as 6". I presume the length of the post that will be inserted into the back of the shelf is 6" What does the depth refer to? My shelf is just 9 inches deep and I want to make sure the post won't be too long for my shelf.

We're fixing the copy - a shelf that size should have a 6" bracket.

for a shelf 11'' or 12'' inches deep, will a 6'' inches bracket do? I am using it to hold plates and mugs in the kitchen. thanks

We use an 8" bracket on our 12" shelves. The safe weight for each bracket is 20 lbs. so if your shelf weighed 15 lbs. and you used two brackets then the safe shelf weight would be 25 lbs.
