Thanks! It is wood siding, and we had also thought about extending the porch. It is in an " up and coming" area, with in walking distance of several small craft breweries. I think paint may be all he gets done this year, hopefully the porch will come next spring! He is a very hard worker ( a firefighter!) and I'm very proud of all he has accomplished! It has a single car garage that he's hoping to make into a bar/ man cave. It will be fun to see what he comes up with!

I bet it will. Good luck. But don't let him be half-hearted about the porch extension, please. I'd definitely hire a professional to help design that.

I like the craft brewery idea for this place. He could do a darker, more rusty brown, or even a barn red. Congrats to him! Everyone loves a firefighter. :)

I think over time he could add some of these Craftsman details to the home.

We had thought about red, kind of like a fire house! I also love the craft an style, I think it would look great!

The main body of the Craftsman house above looks very much like your son's home. I think you have space between the door and upper window to install an entry porch like the one on the right of this home. Perhaps the other porch with the shed roof would work in the back or on the side of his building. Installing the shakes will add some interest and contrast to whatever color you paint it.
