Hosta with fall colour

last modified: 11 years ago

Every once in a while, a hosta will hold its leaf integrity during the transition..... as an example, here is H. 'Spilt Milk'.

I attempted another photo without all the extraneous "stuff" but when I moved it out of the shadow, I lost the colour. However, the white milk streaks show up more...it is windy outdoors and cool....good day to relocate this one!

this was back in May.

Anyone take a walk around their gardens lately to observe fall colour? Would love to see yours! :-)

If I get my ark finished I might go out and take some pictures.

Dad gum those elephants, what a mess they make.

    LOL!

Wow, Jon, is that snake a native species? I wonder if it eats pumpkins or maybe hosta?

It is a very rare Stone Snake and is strictly carnivorous, you may be relieved to know........or maybe not.

None of mine have started really turning colour yet but even if they had, I wouldn't be able to post pics. Lost that ability weeks ago and Houzz is useless at figuring out why. Bummed. Nice pics above you guys! (Guess I won't be posting pics any more....insert sad face here).

Hostanista- Are you using a computer to post pictures or an iPad or iPhone?

'nista, I lost the ability to post them directly onto Houzz as well.

I can do it by clicking onto the 'Houzz Photo' icon and a 'Browse' icon shows up and you can access your photos using this just as you could with the now unresponsive 'Photo' icon.

This is the only way I can now post photos.

Computer. And an antique at that. When I win the lottery I will purchase an iPad and an iPhone. I will try posting a pic as you describe Jon, thanks...... YAY! IT WORKED! I'M BACK BABY! This is Elegans from a couple of years ago as my 'test' photo.

    What beautiful color.

'nista, glad it worked. I recently upgraded to Windows 10; I wonder if that had anything to do with the problem???

Way to go, Hostanista! It's great to have you back!!! Nice shot of Elegans too! :-)

It's time I added a few shots from around the yard.

First off a typical fall shot, with the obligatory spider and 'Empress Wu' in the background.

    And here's the empress herself....

'Abiqua Drinking Gourd' is looking like a mushroom of sorts this time of year...

Yet, there are a couple of examples around the yard that look just fine, such as this 'Monashee Blue Cup'.

And a couple of 'Remember Me' are still in full glory.

Just to show how varied things can be in a patch, ehre's a shot taken in my main patch of 'Golden Tiara' where you can see the earliest pods opening up already, yet there are still some flowers from a neighbouring shoot.

Pieter, it's so interesting to see the various seasonal transitions in your pics! The blooms are a shot of adrenaline aren't they? My Pandora's Box re-bloomed this year.

None of mine have fall color yet. Some of them have the uglies though.

Oh, I've got ugly ones too but they are too shy to show themselves, LOL!
