Thank you, nanny. That is a helpful write-up, and I've saved it. My dog came through the dental surgery just fine, and we'll go back every 3 months for a check of his teeth. The vet didn't realize he had the condition until the dog was under anesthesia for another dental issue and then they spotted the resorption. It will be costly but we'll have to keep up with it, and he's healthy and happy in all the other ways.

Glad to help. Although it can't be prevented, it does appear that regular check up and teeth brushing keep the periodontal disease and inflammation under control. Good luck to you and your pooch!

Oh yes, I forgot to add that I do brush his teeth every day. Some dogs seem to keep their teeth clean by chewing things, but not mine. Thanks again, nanny.

Research a raw diet for great healthy teeth that do not need cleaning. We give our dog 1 beef back raw bone and her teeth are perfectly white to the gums.

I would never consider a raw diet, and the cause of resorptive lesion is unknown. It's wonderful you've found something you like for your dog.
