What do you mean by redesign ? How much do you plan on doing? Do you have a budget?
You could replace the wood siding.
Enlarge and replace the windows.
Replace the column at the porch.
Replace the garage doors.
Replace the asphalt driveway with interlocking pavers
Paint the whole house
Replace the roof.....

Not enough info in your request. When you're asking for help from people, please be as specific as you can.

Just looking to update the exterior. The wood siding is failing. Need to replace on a budget. The entrance needs work. thicken the pole? Maybe add a second to the other side? Thought about a stone base for the pole. The siding color needs to change. We were thinking a clay with a lighter trim. Then do we go with shakes on the top section? The roof and windows need to stay for now. It's a custom contemporary house, so I've been struggling a bit with inspiration to update it from the 80's to a current look.

Your best choice for new siding is "Hardie Board" or another brand of fiber cement siding. It will be expensive, but will last a very long time. Place the new siding horizontally or vertically for a more contemporary look.

The two windows that you see from the front should really be replaced. They should align with each other and I suggest that you lengthen the one on the lower floor to look more like the living room windows off to the right. They can be casement windows.

If you replace your garage doors, this will really help with the updated look.

Only one column is needed at the front porch. You don't need to add stone now since this will save you money which you can use toward your windows. You can always add stone later. You can thicken the existing column with wood trim. Use a smooth fiber board material.

When you replace the roof, you might use an asphalt shingle in a rough cut for a shake look or a smoother cut for a more contemporary look. This material will last longer and will not be prone to catching fire like shakes. If you have more to spend you can consider a standing seam metal roof which will last a long time and will add to the contemporary look.

Replacing your driveway with an interlocking paving material will make a huge difference.

Good luck...............
