im not feeling the mixed metals...i feel as though with carrara it just screams for chrome. depending on the wattage of fixture, i would prob do 2 lights. unless it at least 150 watts. i would rather have too much light than not enough...

I love the sconce but would either use all brass gold or all stainless/chrome. I think that would be your best bet. Your bath is going to be gorgeous!!!

Hmm so I'm guessing no on the mixing metals:) do you think the single since has adequate light though? I haven't seen this in a chrome version where the shade is glass. This was the photo that made me consider a single sconce but the vanity is smaller:

I've seen those sconces between multiple windows on the sink wall in a kitchen and they look great. It looks silly over a mirror.

What about Rejuvenation? Rejuvenation Lighting I just ordered the Eastmoreland and we are doing the same thing - single sconce over a 32" vanity. The Carson gooseneck might give you a similar look to what you posted, but be able to sit a little closer to the mirror while still extending out to give light. I think you can also choose from a variety of shades including clear glass to give you more light.

I love that sconce and your bathroom is going to be gorgeous. But mixing the two? Not so sure about that and it has nothing to do with mixing metals. I don't think that light will provide the best lighting for a bathroom. It will be too close to you and above your head so I think it will cast unflattering shadows. The best lighting for a bathroom is the type that casts even illumination: a pair of sconces at eye level on each side of the mirror is often recommended with bar lighting over the mirror as next best.

thanks guys for the advice- i think we're going to go with sconces on either side, probably the long thin kind like the royale adjustable from RH in polished chrome. i think that style will also go with the fixture better as well. if we do think sconces on either side i can still fit in the larger size mirror. i think mixing metals may look too cluttered in this bath. thanks!

I think your best bet as others agree- is to either do one top light, or a sconce either side of the mirror. I LOVE the brushed gold hardware from schoolhouse- i don't think its necessarily a bad thing to mix the metals, IF your mirror wasn't so prominently edged in the brushed nickel finish, and personally i love the way the gold warms up all the white and marble.

We did an all white bath with marble mosaic detailing around the tilework on the walls, and in the center of the bathtub stall; dark vanity, white fixtures, all brushed nickel hardware- but i LOVE LOVE the soft brass, and would absolutely change it now if i could!

i think they are really nice and i love the adjustability.... just be aware they are only 40watts each but i do think you said u will have an overhead light so that should be enough light... bathroom going to be fab. be sure to post pics when finished!!

do you have any other fixtures in the bath except for the vanity? Is there a frameless option medicine cabinet you can find to your taste? I put in a frameless medicine cabinet with beveled edges and it looked great, it doesn't compete with anything else... Other than that, you'd have to go with a frame in wood matching your vanity cabinet. But, i do love the med cab you have selected, and the easy way would just be to do all chrome/brushed. i did my kitchen all white and grey, and i wish i had used brass or brushed gold on the pulls/knobs to warm it up- been adding wooden accents for that purpose.

Sofibebe I think we are decorating kindred spirits. We did an all white/chrome kitchen. Just had the counters installed yesterday and I'm convinced it looks very white and stark. I'm hoping once the backsplash is installed we'll change our minds. Otherwise our plan is to exchange the faucet for brass and switch out the pulls for brass and do brass pendants. We'll be out the cost of the pulls and restocking fee for the faucet but when you're spending so much on a reno already you want to make sure it's right.

Ours looked super naked before we added the backsplash. Its still grey and white, but before the backsplash it looked very sterile w the white primer paint behind it.

I agree with sofibebe that the kitchen probably just needs to be accessorized a bit. We added warm coloured bamboo blinds and massive end grain wood cutting boards that stay out on the counter and just those 2 little things changed the feeling from cool to warm.

I'm doing my bath VERY similar....same tile with a 1900's feel. I agree with the suggestions of all chrome...I looked at polished nickel and even it at too much blue to look good with the marbled grey tile. The question I have is....what width grout did you use? I love your result and that's the one thing I can't figure out...would love some help! Sanded or unsanded?

I vote no for mixing metals. I personally think it looks like something broke /had to be replaced, and the homeowner just grabbed the first thing available instead of bothering to match. Of course, I probably think this because it's exactly what my husband does: "Huh? What? I bought the cheapest one. Were others different? Well, it's installed now, so we'll live with it for a decade."

Definitely something in the silver family, but I don't think which silver-tone matters. You may obsess about it now, but later people (including you) will just see "silver". Definitely not the gold-tone; the subway tile is "cold", and the brighter metal clashes. Another option, not seen so often, might be white porcelain /vintage look.

I like the sconce -- but not in this application; this light fixture is designed for easy movement -- like you'd want above a desk so you could direct your lighting towards today's task -- and that doesn't make sense above a sink, where you don't need to adjust the fixture. It also seems like "too little" for the tile; this is a luxurious tile, and the faucet, with its "fat lines" and curves, fits in -- the skinny, minimalistic lines of this sconce do not. I'd go with something more traditional like the fixture above the mirror in aktillery9's above picture.

I have one thought about the metals, which are way to contrasting in feel. Aged brass vs. extremely contemporary chrome? Neh.

But here's the thought: Rub 'n buff.
