firewood storage solution

An old nagging issue was what to do with the firewood DH brings into the house for our fireplace insert. We go through a lot of wood. Before, we had an iron ring to stack the wood in. But that always left a big dirty mess on the floor.

So when vacationing, we saw these galvanized metal watering troughs used as planters teamed with contemporary patio furniture on a hotel deck. We thought they looked pretty cool. Then it struck me that they would be great for firewood storage! I got it on Amazon used for about $80, shipping included. It came today, and it's not nearly as heavy as I feared it would be. I can lift it easily. It's 43 in. by 22 in. by 12 in., & ought to hold a lot of wood. It will contain the mess at least.

It's not everyone's design cup of tea, but it fits well in my rustic FR, & I thought it might work for someone else's firewood storage issue too.
