We are starting our annual secret tomato seed swap.

Who is "we"? Is this the one from the Round Robin forum or the one from the Garden exchange or the one from Wintersowing? Many of us are already entered in those.

I'm sorry, I guess I should have been more specific:) It is a swap I have done every year for 11 years. We have people from 5 countries, although most are American. We get in a great variety of tomato seeds. I post about it each year. I don't know about the other swaps; this is the only one I do, it takes up so much of my time:)

What if one does not have 10 varieties and does not need 50 varieties ?

I, myself, am not interested in something that I don't want to grow. So why would I need 50 varieties when i might need just 5 specific varieties ?

The purpose of this swap is for people to get a lot of varieties that they have not tried before, and to share rare/new varieties with other tomatophiles. If you only want a few specific varieties I am sure you can get those from trades or from seed websites.

Yeah, asaylor, I will try to do trade if I can.

I already have over 50 variety seeds from years past and this year. But I will grow only about a dozen or so of those plus a couple of new ones.

I have about 2000 varieties lol. I have my favorites, then add in a few new ones each year to try out. I grow anywhere from 32 to 140 depending on where I can grow. I see you haven't quite caught the seed collecting bug yet:)

I am planning on growing about 15 varieties in 2015. This past season I have had about 30 vars, total of 50 plants. So practically I am cutting back by 50% overall.
