Thanks be! We have considered a pocket door, but are trying to avoid one if possible. As for moving plumbing, it's a raised foundation so it is slightly cheaper. If we find a layout that makes sense, we don't mind paying.

Also, the reason we want to move or rotate the shower is to accommodate a large window. As it is laid out now (since we need a rod for the curtain), there isn't really anywhere for a worthwhile window to go.

Have you considered a barn door? The hardware is mounted to the exterior of the wall so no need to modify the plumbing!

I guess since it's a guest bath, you don't need all that vanity. So you could flip the shower and toilet to the opposite wall from their current locations and put in a smaller vanity with a window at the end. However, looks like there may not be clearance for the toilet in the lower right corner? in that case, put the toilet near the new window in the upper left, put the vanity on the left wall leading into the lower corner (with a pony wall before the toilet!), and squeeze the shower along the right side, perhaps with a linen closet filling the extra space in the lower-right corner. That seems like your best option. Is a window worth all the trouble?

Thanks acm. The window "might" be worth it on it's own, but we also don't like the toilet tucked in behind the door so tightly. Given that, I really like your idea!

It is never a good idea to have a bathroom entry door swing into the toilet area. I would also not want to open the door and see the toilet right there. I like acm's suggestions. I would for sure add a window if you have the chance. I have two bath's w/o windows & wish I had them.

Some of what you are wanting would be tied in with a budget. For example, the tub - most tubs that size will only be skirted on the front, so you would need to build a wall on one end - or look for a pricier tub. That wall would also support the shower curtain on that side, but it would block the window to part of the bath. The second question is the window - are you thinking large? Or what about inside the tub - using a diffused and waterproofed window that does not open? Or an operating window in the tub/shower area, but placed up high so as to minimize the water impact while still being able to open it. One idea would be to rotate the tub to the upper left corner, then going right from there with the window in the tub area. Then you could place the end wall to the right, followed by the toilet to the right of that. A smaller vanity could be on the lower right corner, along that right wall. That would leave enough room behind the door for a large linen cabinet.
