Installing Thermador remote blower with roof mount

My contractors are getting ready to install my Thermador VTR1330E remote blower to go with my 48 inch island range hood. They think the unit doesn't look that weather proof to be mounted on roof uncovered. Has anyone had any experience installing this unit and if so, does it work well mounted uncovered on the roof? They seem to think it should be covered with some kind of cap to make it more weather proof.

I am having the same problem and Thermador is no help. The old model was better made and water tight . I have a tile roof and I think I have to have this housing made and then a lead skirt put over it.. Did you solve the problem ?
