Go simple with plain frosted and brushed nickel. But get some color on the table with placemats and napkins.

Updating your cabinet hardware will help give the room an entirely new look! Here are some ideas to get you started.

I think frosted would be really lovely and simple vertical pulls. You have a lot of grey in the room so maybe paint the walls a light warm white. Benjamin Moore Paints that are nice are Revere Pewter, Cloud, and Dove White. These colors are recommended repeatedly on Houzz!

Replace your vinyl blinds with a woven Roman shade. You might consider painting the backsplash a warm white to brighten the room and install a modern feeling ceiling fixture. Or possibly installing a backsplash in subway tile that is soft white or cream.

Of cousre, I will go in a different direction. I would go clear glass with mullions. I would take the door off the middle section and leave open. I would paint the beadboard and the open shelving unit a creamy yellow or color of your choice. I went yellow because it looks like your counter is black. Add gold burnished hardware. Add a black farmhouse pendant light with some gold accents. Use black and yellow dishes and black accessories on bar top.

It would be cool to do the mullions in black.

Nancy, I was curious on if you would paint the beadbord or make it a smooth surface then paint it?

I would just paint it-adds some visual texture.

What is your opinion if I painted the bottom of the table and chair backs/legs black leaving the table top and chair seats wood? I am looking for an app to give me a more interactive visual.

Canadel made sets like that. Ours was blue with maple until we moved and had blackstar granite counters with maple cabinets. Then I painted all chair parts which were blue a deep, shiny black. It's tricky not to get paint on the seats but it can be done with good prep and patience. Appliances were mostly almond (stove had black grates and knobs). Plus, the extra deep sink was black. It looked planned but not too matchy-matchy.

Maybe a rug big enough to cover most of the tile. Get a whole new look if you are taking the time to paint.

Update: I painted the beadbord and replaced all the windows with new glass and applied frosted film. Although it's not a total makeover, I feel it made the space a little more modern.
