Living Room Redo

I love my Persian rug so it will stay. I would like to lighten this room as it faces a shady west. I am considering 2 sofas, 2 accent chairs by fireplace and an upholstered ottoman. The kitchen was recently completed with Smoke Ember walls (grey) and drapes with cream, grey, golden yellow and Robin egg blue. (Waverly) I would like to create some flow between rooms. I have no idea where to start. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Can you add the outline of the rug to the floor plan?

If you want the colors to flow, try picking out a few colors in the dining area curtains and the rug. Try photographing a curtain panel next to or on top of the rug to see if there are colors in common.

I would skip the accent color on the fireplace wall and paint all walls the same. Start by finding a sofa that works separately with both the rug and curtains (any neutral should work).
