Dining room help

I'm hoping for suggestions on my dining room. The wine picture has to stay somehow since it was a gift from the in-laws. Otherwise open to anything. Thank you!

Install some floating shelves and place the wine mirror on it with decorative items slightly in front/around it. Add a sideboard or buffet under the large mirror. Some crystal candlesticks or other crystal decor to tie in chandelier. Area rug. Remove metal art piece to another room.

Do you have room for a console under the mirror?

I would consider getting slipcovers for the chairs to give the room a look more in line with the mirror and chandelier.

Indoor outdoor, easy clean with kiddies

The previous owners had a China hutch in the wall with the pic and I have considered putting one under the picture. This is a taller table so I don't know if the slipcovers would work.

You can get short covers that do not cover legs

A console under the picture would work also.

I'd like to see a little glam in your room. I also like Jillian's ideas for the wine mirror. Here is a buffet to go under your large mirror and some floor lamps. I'd suggest one on each side of the buffet. Also a rug.

I don't think there's enough room for a console. I think you can keep the wine picture but think more art should be added around it since it's too small with the scroll piece on its own given the size of the wall and size of the dining set. I would use light colored artwork instead of the mirror to add more interest and height to the left wall.

The wine mirror works with the casual table but not the chandelier. If the wine mirror stays and the casual pub table stays, then then chandelier should be replaced.

If the wine mirror stays then the other mirror has to find a new home. A console table and some artwork that would be vertical on the wall would help make the room more interesting. Could use some color in the artwork.

Rug is optional depending on the home in general.

i'm not sure a standard console would work with a taller table, the proportions would be wrong. you'd need something a fair bit taller, you wouldnt want it shorter than the table top.

in any case, the chandelier and wine mirror don't want to play together, and the chandelier and the high top table dont want to either. time for a new chandelier if you are committed to the table and have nowhere else appropriate for the wine mirror (how about in the kitchen?)

Sorry but the wine mirror needs to go. Can you hang it in the basement? Bar area? Make a wine storage area/cellar and put mirror there. Chandelier is out of scale with that table. Get larger table or smaller chandelier.

One thing that would help the "wine mirror" is for it to be centered with the table, rather than closer to the corner where it currently is. Another VERY random thought is, since it's not really valuable as a mirror, how strange would it work for the wine mirror and scrollwork to be centered over the larger mirror? (Yep, I agree, that's a really strange thought ... worth exactly what it has cost you! :)

The beautiful chandelier does seem to overwhelm the table, due to the small table size. If you have plans in the fairly near future to purchase a larger table -- as your family is growing, then keep it. If not, yes, you probably need to get a simpler, smaller, chandelier.

Not knowing what the surrounding spaces look like, I can't know if this "fits" you or not, but with your little ones and family life together, it seems that a piece of artwork or a colorful tablecloth or a colorful rug (indoor-outdoor was a great idea!) would brighten and warm up your space.
