knobs.

Small rosette or long side plates? Arched or rectangular?

The last home we purchased had levers.. I'd never lived anywhere with levers before that. Our current one has knobs. I miss the levers and plan on switching them all out!

This is a critically important decision. I have selected some egg shaped knobs and some levers that might work. Order in some sample knob/levers and see what looks appropriate for your doors.

I couldn't upload the photo here but on this website there are some beautiful options! Crystal is my vote as was mentioned earlier! http://www.signaturehardware.com/diamond-door-knob-set-privacy-passage-and-dummy.html

Knobs -- unless you're getting round levels. I bought the more flat levers and hated the look and feel of them. Ended up replacing them with stainless steel knobs.

Also, from personal experience, while the much thicker round rod levers in hospitals might be better for those of us with arthritis in our hands, the less expensive more flat sided levers and levers with square corners ARE NOT better for people with arthritis in their hands. If you are considering levers, get the round rods with minimal design or, better yet, the egg shaped knobs such as the ones in the pics that BeverlyFLADeziner posted.

1st.. Do you plan on having babies or toddlers anytime soon, if so.. Knobs all the way.
2nd.. Does anyone suffer arthritis or have a physical disability in your home... Levers all the way.

If neither, personal preference. I'd say unless you plan on very young children, then levers.

Your door accommodates both styles without clashing.

Finish, depends on the rest of decor. Oil rubbed bronze or pitted grey metal is great.

Levers

I like the crystal levers but my husband likes the look and functionality of levers. So can I put crystal knobs for the closets, bar and powder room (4 doors in the main foyer) and do remainder of house all levers? Foyer is fancier separate space while other doors are on other side of house and upstairs. Can I mix it up like that? Otherwise will go all levers.
