You are on the right track and your kitchen is gorgeous. Can I move in with you! =0) I would not use sheers in a kitchen, better in a bedroom or living area. The linen/burlap is perfect. Grommets are out of style. How about edging the bottom of the Roman Shades with a subtle patterned fabric or just doing the whole shade in a pretty soft pattern

For your custom house, I would do custom window treatments, I like the roman shade idea. If you do not have a local designer that can custom make them for you. I would try Smith and Noble. They have fabrics and woven woods that you can choose from. And they will send you samples

Thank you. We are quite proud of how the kitchen turned out. We built the house ourselves and decided to use Ikea cabinetry. (Not as easy as it may seem) LOL. I have not thought of using Roman Shades instead of curtains, what a great idea. I was thinking of something like that in our dining room, that's just off the kitchen. Speaking of dining room, we just finished building our dining room (farm style) table. Now I have to decide what type chairs to look for. I was leaning towards "old" ladder back with rush seating. Any ideas? Thanks so much.

Where do you live? If I were you I would call a local designer and have the windows measured for roman shades to made in a terrific linen with a tape trim.

Ixnay on curtains, don't "heavy up" a beautiful thing!!!. I would consider Hunter Douglas Sihouettes, or Pirouettes. They disappear right into their headrail when you don't need them, can operate on a remote control. The headrail would be unnoticed against your white window trim. They come in a host of sheers, allow tremendous versatility in privacy and light. And when you want nothing? It's like they aren't even there. WAtch the video.
