No seed or reseed for me. I purchase a small specimen each May and put it in the pot.

That is a lovely coleus. I'm another who lets them go to flower. I think they look better that way, at least in my garden.

Are you talking about the Kong series? I can't find a King Kong. Yours looks like the Kong 'Scarlet', I think, though they can be highly variable in appearance depending on how they are grown. Look at THIS website about Kong Scarlet to see what you think.

Regardless, all of the varieties in the Kong series are pretty spectacular, without a doubt.

For shade maybe they can't be beat, but since I use coleus in sunny locations, the Kongs and other typical seed-grown varieties aren't suitable. Some favorite sun coleus:

I'm not sure that's always the case.

"Sun coleus" might do OK in shade, but have brightest colors in sun.

I have occasionally found coleus touted to do well in full sun actually preferred some shade ("Saturn", for instance).
