Some pics of our kitchen remodel

My wife and I used Gardenwebs (and Houzz) for ideas for our recent kitchen remodel. We thought we might share the results of our project in the event it might help others. This was part of a large (for us) house remodel project that involved a small two story addition and a new master over the existing kitchen (which had been a one story addition), knocking down some prior work that was not in keeping with the house, and fixing a lot of deferred maintenance. We did the kitchen, 2.5 bathrooms, and added a total of three rooms to the existing house. Took about eight months and we moved out for six. Phew!

The house is 102 years old and we wanted to remain true to the aesthetic of the house. To that end, we used natural cherry cabinets, soapstone counters, a granite island, reclaimed heart of pine floors, and white subway tile backsplash. We also chose stainless appliances and elected to keep all (or nearly) of the existing windows. We also did not change the footprint of the room as it was large enough already, but removing a back staircase that had not been original did allow us to insert some additional cabinetry and create a hallway where one had not been previously. We are happy with how it came out and hope you like it and/or find the pictures useful. The brands we used for appliances and fixtures were: Subzero (fridge and freezer drawers), Bluestar (Platinum series range), Scotsman (icemaker), Wolf (steam convection oven and warming drawer), Miele (dishwasher), Bosch (the other dishwasher), Franke (sinks), Perrin and Rowe (traditional faucet), Dornbracht (modern faucet), Vent-a-Hood, et al.

I took these pictures today, so maybe six months after the "completion" of the project. There are, of course, little things needing to be done, but in general the cabinets have darkened up a fair amount since they were installed and as you can see, the kitchen is "lived in".... Happy to answer any questions. For slightly larger pics, you can go here: http://www.pbase.com/luvwine/kitchen and click on "original" size for each pic.
