Since I got the covered boxes I have noticed a huge difference in the dust kicked out of the boxes, well worth the money to buy one.

When I had cats, I used the "Cat attract" litter because of the low dust levels. My friend uses the wheat litter, I think it's called "s'weet" and that has no dust

Have you tried Petco's bulk brand? My dust problem went to nearly zero when i changed to it.

Tidy cats clumping, which comes in the large yellow tubs (27lb and 35lb) or in semi clear jugs, I think 6lb and 20lb is the least dusty litter I have found. I am co director of a cat rescue so litter boxes are a big part of my life. I have tried every litter known to man. This is my favorite. I prefer the blue lid, red lid, or silver lid, in that order. I have tried the very expensive litters like precious cat and ever clean and all the cheaper ones, pine based, corn based, etc etc... Tidy cats clumping is the best.

DF recently married someone who never had cats before & had similar complaint. Her advice: empty & fill the litter box outside (or at least in garage), and use a plug-in electric air purifier/filter in the room. She initially bought a cheap one that did not work so well and later bought a more expensive larger one that works great.

She recently switched to this Arm & Hammer Essentials Natural clumping litter and it is the least dust free I've seen. Like aliz, we also volunteer at a feline rescue/shelter. However, there we use the most budget friendly clumping.

Yes - a good clumping litter shouldn't have dust. But then that brings another set of problems - including those little bits of gravel that get tracked everywhere, including in my bed. Nothing more annoying - cant think of a solution except keep cats out of the bed.... which isn't likely to happen.
