My mother has a gorgeous 1970s Ethan Allen dining table, the thing is huge, because her house was always where everyone congregated for holidays. Now, she's getting ready to retire and downsize, whereas my husband and I are hitting our professional stride and looking to upsize. We want to build a home, and need an enclosed formal dining room that will accommodate this huge table. I believe it's about 10-12 feet long. Does anyone build dining rooms that big in anything other than mansions?? We only need a 3-4 bedroom house (no children yet, and if we do, we're only having one)! Additionally, we wanted to do a manufactured home, if at all possible. Is a ~20' X ~16' dining room a ridiculous idea?
