As you can tell Demo is complete. Floor is going to flow into this area from the bedroom. We are thinking about a barn door closure. And a glass window into shower. It will be a walk in shower no tub. Any thoughts?

Re-modelling a bathroom with a limited space can be tricky, but if done right it could do wonders to the overall space. Love the inspiration photo you posted, glass wall/window can elevate the style quotient of your bathroom indeed. You know what else looks great in shower areas? Glass mosaic. It's pretty easy to instal and clean. The best thing about mosaics is that you can virtually get any theme or design created with it. Here are some ideas:

A rough layout would be helpful for us "helpers".

Here is a rough of the bedroom/bathroom. The tub area will be a walkin shower and we are probably doing a glass next to vanity. A barn door is in the plan to close off the bathroom area. Going light as there is no natural light in this area. The outside wall is brick. So the only natural light is the small windows in the bedroom. Not to scale. It is a long narrow bathroom.

For a bit more light, you may want to use a barn door with opaque glass. Also, if nothing is above the bathroom, look into Solatubes. We did two and they are fantastic. I would use floating shelves over the toilet for storage instead of a cabinet. I would also do as much glass for shower as possible. You will need a knee wall between vanity and shower, but I would take glass all the way to the floor on the toilet side.

What is the flooring going to be? Those cabinets are staying, right? They are pretty.

The cabinets are newly installed. Yes we are doing a knee wall with glass next to vanity. The floor is a dark tile that looks like wood.

This the bedroom we are using the same flooring into the bathroom area.

Above is attic and we have a metal roof. Can't talk hubby into cutting the roof. We get LOTS of rain usually in South Mississippi.

I want to do a mirror on both sides of the barn door.

But I think I want to have it built and I want to be able to slide it to either side of the opening.

Love your idea book! To get more light into the bathroom, you can add transom windows to the top of the barn door, or do you have enough room to add them in the wall above the barn door, and If they can tilt out, that would also provide more ventilation.

For your light fixtures, you need 70 to 80 lumens times the room sq ft. And sconces on either side of the mirror provide better light for shaving face and applying makeup.

Can you do bypass glass shower door rather than swing door, to give you more room?

Texture coming today, shower install and tile hopefully Monday. We did find a leak while the ceiling was down and we had a torrential downpour. Glad we found it before the ceiling was installed.

Should I paint the same white in the shower area as the bedroom?

Also I'm thinking of using the same tile as I did in our other bathroom but dark grout and not staggered and vertical. I have enough to do half wall and an accent tile.

This is the other bathroom we did a few years ago. I love the tile but want it to look different in the master and I hate wasting the extra I had to order that is sitting in my garage.

It's coming together nicely. I think it's a great idea to use same mosaic tile from the other bathroom and I like idea of running it vertically, and have plans to do my shower area accent tile vertically.

My tiles are so close together, the grout line is thin and hardly noticeable. Whatever grout you use, make sure it has mildew resistant additive. I think the color of grout is just your personal preference. Since the contractors have seen final results in other homes, ask yours what color is recommended in yours and why.

I would suggest Light Buff for your grout.

The accent tile is a little different but very similar. They don't make the one I used in the other bathroom. This one has glass in it with stone.

Here is what shower tile with light grout and shower tile with dark grout look like. The dark grout makes each tile stand out and is more dramatic. The light grout makes everything blend into each other and nothing stops the eye so it makes the space look bigger. The inspiration photo you posted had light grout.

The shower is not going to be tiled. We chose a composite. The tile will only go behind the toilet and on the adjacent wall. After the shower is installed I will post pictures.

Blue's suggestion is great regarding opaque glass. This summer we stayed at the Loews Royal Pacific in Orlando and there was opaque glass on the barn door to the very small bathroom which had no windows in the wet area and it let alot of light in. We thought it was genious. They also covered the barn door hardware with a header. I think it made the area much more sophisticated.

We hardly ever closed the door in this bathroom. It was very dark and small. We think we want to have mirrors on both sides of the barn door.

So do you think I can go with dark grout with the tile?

Dark grout can look nice with a lighter tile depending on the look and style you are going for. You will want to take into consideration how detail oriented the tile installer is. If he/she is meticulous and keeps accurate and consistent spacing between tiles then the dark grout could be ok, however if there is inconsistency in spacing the contrasting grout will show those imperfections more. The assumption is the work is done with precision and accuracy however in reality each installer is unique and has different tolerances for attention to detail. So, it is something to consider in your decision making.

Floor and walls are almost complete. We were short 4 tiles. My fault we added this room onto the job. So we wait for the tile to be ordered and delivered. But it looks great. Can't wait for the glass doors.

Almost finished with the awkward Master bathroom. We are also waiting for the mirror and a few finishing touches. It is a vast improvement.

This window was supposed to be textured raindrops but was ordered wrong. They installed it anyway we just have to decide if we like it clear.
