Window Dressing -- any ideas?!

This first floor bathroom window needs some sort of dressing - blind? Curtain? Whatever is put there needs to provide privacy as this window looks onto the deck! So if a blind or roman shade it would be down 24/7. It is a small bathroom recently redone with navy/white wallpaper and beadboard bottom. I'd love a plantation shutter but expensive and required molding won't fit. Any help??

Continue to explore the Plantation Shutter option. A good company will be able to do a beautiful installation for you. You will have light control and privacy.

I'd suggest a top-down/bottom up blind, like a Duette cellular shade, (Hunter Douglas) or a top down woven wood blind. For a shutter, mount it outside the casing. You would likely have to remove the window casing that is there, but it can be done, and you could split the louvers so that the bottom ones can stay closed, and the top ones tilt open, for maximum privacy, especially given this window looks out on a deck!

Before I post the photo, I want to apologize for the poor PhotoShop job -- am working rather quickly tonight. You mentioned it in your introduction, but how about a roman shade? I would stay away from patterns, as your wallpaper is the star of the this room. I was thinking red. Again, sorry for the poor PS quality - hopefully this visual will help you see what a roman shade would look like. If you're happy with that, I will look for some purchasable options.

Sorry, I wouldn't cover up this window. I would frost the glass, privacy film or even some cool stained glass. Let that light in.

So nice looking. I prefer the combination pull-up, pull-down duet shade. Can be gotten in a variety of styles.

JCPenney has a big sale on roman shades. Exterior mount in plain white would be great.

Top-down/bottom-up shades suggested by Wow will give you privacy and light as needed. Get one with a remote for ease of use and full control. The window film will still show a silhouette in the bathroom.

One of our clients faced the same issue for the bathroom window. She wanted shutters which would not fit with existing hardware. The solution: faux wood blinds which are beautiful, perfect for wet areas, and economical. Good luck.
