I like it as is. Don't paint it...no reason you can't mix wood with painted pieces.

The wood looks good with the blue and you have white in the pottery and the painting. It all ties together. I would leave it unpainted.

Glad you're not painting it! I inherited two solid maple dressers from my mother, very heavy and simple, aged to orange. Called in a refinisher and we chose a stain that would make the orange coloration go away. When he returned them, very nicely restained he said that you couldn't find such quality on the market today.

I think refinishing is the best idea, a bit deeper brown tone without the orange-iness will look lovely.

I know you'll do what you prefer, but I think the warmth of the wood - the orange tones -really sets off and complements your blue pottery in a way that some other wood tones might not. It looks like it coordinates well with the wood lids on some of your jars? Before you refinish it, try your art and blue pottery against whatever color you think you want to change it to. I think it's perfect, but it's not my home!

Test the stain. If it doesn't do what you want for the table, consider painting -- but a color rather than white.

Is it oak? Sort of looks like it on the side. If so, it takes a stain well. The curved parts on the front legs are the only PITA places to remove the old stain. Otherwise, nice even planes. I don't mind the color it is right now at all, but since you don't, a bit darker (not too) avoiding orange/red tones.

I like wood and paint so I would not paint it! Especially when the paint is white!

I like the warmth of the wood, actually I think the lamp is throwing it off. I would get a blue and white lamp to tie it all together or have one of your jars made into a lamp. Pretty kitchen!!
