The plant to the right of the sans is a rubber plant.

Wish I live near a place like this. All I have are Walmart, Lowe's, and Menard's. Not much chance for finding plants like the ones you show. Thanks for posting the photos!

Actually that plant to the right is a type of Peperomia although it has the big rubbery leaves. This species also comes in a few nice variegates. I see that generic "laurentii" tag on a lot of Sans.........you would think the wholesaler and/or retailer would make some minor effort to have the correct names.

Woodnative, that plant was marked "baby rubber plant". I guess it was marked wrong also?

I almost said something to the owner about the name being wrong on the sans but people don't usually like it when I do.

Baby rubber plant is a common common name for P. obtusifolia.

Happy to share but "educating" seems a bit strong, common names aren't right or wrong, just more or less commonly used. An image search for "baby rubber plant" will show about an equal amount of young Ficus elastica and Peperomia plants. A good example of how the botanical name is needed sometimes.

Whatever the names...I'm jealous! I think I'm gonna move somewhere close to a place like this. Again, thanks for the pics. It's almost like being there!

A friend of mine Had Devil's Backbone in full Florida sun and it had the most lovely Variegation tinged in a reddish pink. So the moral of the story: full sun if you can provide it. Very nice looking plants!

Floorwalker, if I stop back there I will see what the Agave are called. I love the bluish one but don't have room for it. I try to stay away but all those plants in 4" pots are only $3.79. She has a lot of jade varieties but the picture I took was blurry.

Stush I did buy one of those sans for my mom. I hope to mail it to her tomorrow with a pot of hahnii I have and some aloe.

Just looked up devil's backbone, it's a euphorbia so I don't want any of those even if it is cool looking.

I did buy 2 Schlumbergera that are blooming now.

The top picture of the jade I bought says argentea. The bottom one says "large red". Is the real name crassula radicans?

They had poinsettia too. I loved this one.

I had a chance to visit a nice nursery in Virginia outside Washington, D.C. I resisted buying I house plants but it was hard.

Akrrm they had a LOT there I don't have........and could not have due to space and time and wallet LOL! Beautiful plants! Most pricey but also a better than average selection. The nursery is called Merrifield Garden Center in Fairfax, Virginia. My wife has relatives nearby and I love to stop when we visit. The general area is very wealthy (actually I am surprised the Garden Center survives amid the pricey (and beautiful!) new condos and townhomes surrounding it. In any case there are clientale with deep pockets and high expectations so they always carry beautiful and many unusual plants!

Merrifield garden center on Lee highway I think it is in Falls Church just outside of Washington DC. Always have nice plants inside and outside.
