Good question. When art is labeled with a position it can mean the position the artist intended for it to be hung and/or the position of the hanging hardware attached. Since this comes with hardware to hang vertically, you'll probably just need to adjust or add new hanging hardware. I think it would look good vertically in the right space, ie skinny wall. hth
